The battlefield at 11:59 PM on 12/31/44

The battle takes place 30 minutes after the ambush on the German armor column.  The shaken and battered American paratroopers are making their way back to their lines through the dark and quiet forest.

12:00am 1/1/45

As if by order, the paratroopers all fall to the frozen ground as does all of Earth's mammals, birds and fish.  The forest is loud with silence as the world changes into a nightmare that awaits all that slumber.

As if on cue, the paratroopers all awake at the same time and rise half covered in freezing snow.  They group up and check for injury or poisoning and discover they have been out for 30 minutes.

The Sgt. decides to double time it back to their lines so they can report this possible gas attack to HQ.  A quick compass reading and the unit is off.

Unknown to the Americans, a new threat appears in the forest and they are determined to expel the American threat from their forest wards.

The point-man stops and looks into the darkness just as a beautiful nude woman appears out of the shadows right in front of him.

Surprised and before the young man can react, his chest is pierced with a bronze spear and he crumples dead onto the frozen ground.

The rest of the squad moves forward then suddenly one of the paratroopers fall screaming from an arrow in his leg.

The squad opens up in all directions as the RO heads over to help his pal with an arrow sticking out of his leg.

As the RO works on his wounded comrade, another arrow comes out of the darkness and grazes the mans head knocking him out.  As the RO yells to his NCO about what just happened, another nude female appears right in from of the Sarge with a very shard spear headed right for his throat.

The Sarge levels his weapon at his attacker only to have it jam on him.  He blocks the woman's thrust with his Thompson which causes him to drop it.  Before the woman can make her second attack, the Sarge pulls his pistol and empties his magazine into her stopping her cold.

The BAR gunner looks over and sees his Sarge in close combat and starts to turn to assist when a screaming woman appears out of the darkness charging at him with a blooded spear.

The paratrooper swings his BAR just in time to stop the woman before he is run through with her spear.

The RO picks up his unconscious buddy and runs while the BAR fires in the direction they thing the arrows are coming from.

The Sarge then catches an arrow in the thigh as he was giving covering fire to the RO.

The BAR gives covering fire as another paratrooper pick up the Sarge.

The RO and the paratrooper over his shoulder is suddenly grabbed by inhuman hands and lifted into the air.

As if rag-dolls, the forest sentinel rips the men apart with its limb-hands

Moving and firing, the paratroopers move through the dark woods.  As the BAR gunner looks down to reload his weapon, another nude woman appears out of the darkness with 2 razor-sharp arrows in her hands headed for his chest.

The Nymph moves with such speed that the paratrooper is dead before he can even move to defend himself.  The forest protector then readies her bow and takes aim on the remaining GIs.

The Sarge sees the aiming Nymph and opens up with his weapon and puts one right between her eyes sending her limp to the forest floor.  The other paratrooper witnesses his friends ripped apart by some monstrous shape to his front.  He suppresses his horror and throws the only grenade he has left, a Willy Pete.  The grenade explodes against the wooden monster and it is engulfed in white hot death.  The creature screams as it burns sending inhuman sounds echoing into the forest.

Helping his Sarge, the remaining GIs move as fast as they can to their lines to only hear answers to the burning creatures cries all around them.  With God's help they will make it back to their lines before whatever is responding in the darkness can reach them.

After the battle

This is the first game for the American's in the Turning campaign and boy did they get chomped.  We'll see if they can reach their pals before their next ordeal.

Hope you enjoyed it,
Brian
